In the Outer South-East Region in 2001, there were 27,211 occupied private dwellings and 41.3% of them were fully owned (11,251 dwellings). Rochedale had the highest proportion of fully owned dwellings (63.6%) and Kuraby had the lowest proportion (26.1%).

A further 6,964 dwellings (25.6% of occupied private dwellings) in the Outer South-East Region were being purchased. Kuraby had the highest proportion (38.9%) and Rochedale had the lowest proportion (10.0%).

In the Outer South-East Region, 28.1% of occupied private dwellings was being rented, including 923 dwellings (3.4%) that were rented from Housing Authorities. Mount Gravatt had the highest proportion (13.1%) of dwellings rented from Housing Authorities and Mount Gravatt East had the highest number of Housing Authority dwellings (346 dwellings). There were no Housing Authority dwellings in Stretton-Karawatha or Rochedale.

Stretton-Karawatha had the lowest proportion of rented dwellings (10.5%).
