Of the 71,791 people in occupied private dwellings in the Outer South-East Region in 2001, husbands and wives accounted for 46.6% of the population, a total of 33,480 people. Kuraby (49.3%) had the highest proportion and Runcorn (44.2%) had the lowest proportion.

There were 3,097 lone parents in the Outer South-East Region, 4.3% of the population. Mount Gravatt East had the highest proportion (5.9%) and Stretton-Karawatha had the lowest proportion (2.7%).

A further 4,917 people lived alone (6.8% of the population) in the Outer South-East Region. This proportion was relatively low compared to 15.9% in Mount Gravatt. The lowest proportion of people living alone in the Inner North Region was in Stretton-Karawatha (1.6%).

Almost two out of every ten people in the Outer South-East Region (19.8%) were children under 15 years, a total of 14,237 people. In comparison the highest proportion in the region was 24.7% in Kuraby and the lowest was 14.3% in MacGregor.
