In the Outer South-East Region, 64.7% of the population (49,677 people) were born in Australia, including 777 Indigenous Australians (1.0% of the Outer South-East Region population).

Mount Gravatt East had the highest number of Indigenous people in the region with a total of 145 people, but the highest proportions were in Mount Gravatt East and Mount Gravatt (both 1.5%). Stretton-Karawatha and MacGregor had the lowest percentages (0.2%) of Indigenous Australians.

Mount Gravatt East (73.3%) had the highest proportion of people born in Australia (excluding Indigenous people), and Stretton-Karawatha (44.6%) had the lowest proportion.

Stretton-Karawatha recorded the highest percentage of people born overseas (49.1%).

The proportion of overseas visitors in Stretton-Karawatha (2.5%) was the highest in the region, and Eight Mile Plains had the largest number of overseas visitors (259 people).
