Non-private dwellings

  • In 2001, there were 1,586 usual residents in non-private dwellings in the Outer South-East Region. Of these 25.9% were in hotels or motels, 23.5% were in nursing homes and 18.3% were in hospitals.

  • Upper Mount Gravatt had the largest number of usual residents in non-private dwellings in the Outer South-East Region (478 people including 339 usual residents in nursing homes or accommodation for the retired or aged) and Mount Gravatt East had the second highest number (327 people including 131 usual residents in public, private or psychiatric hospitals and 120 in nursing homes).

  • Mansfield had the highest proportion of usual residents in hotels/motels (62.5%) while Mount Gravatt East had the highest proportion of usual residents in hospitals (40.1%).

  • In Mount Gravatt, 81.1% of usual residents in non-private dwellings were in boarding schools or colleges.
