Income

  • In the Outer South-East Region, 12,139 people or 19.9% of the population aged 15 years and over recorded an income of between $200 and $399 a week at the 2001 Census. Upper Mount Gravatt (25.1%) had the largest proportion of people in this income bracket and Stretton-Karawatha (15.1%) had the smallest proportion.

  • There were 12,521 low income earners (between $1 and $199 a week) comprising 20.5% of the Outer South-East Region's population aged 15 years and over, and there were also 4,983 people (8.2%) with negative or nil income. Mount Gravatt had the largest percentage of low income earners (23.8%) while Stretton-Karawatha had the largest percentage of people with negative or nil income (16.2%).

  • High income earners (more than $1,000 a week) comprised 9.7% of the Outer South-East Region's population aged 15 years and over (5,898 people). The proportions ranged from 11.6% in Wishart to 7.5% in Upper Mount Gravatt.
